Low-risk pregnancy

Test schedule by trimester

Pregnancy is a fascinating journey that we divide into three key stages. In each of these, our medical team has designed a complete schedule of tests and check-ups to look after your health and ensure the proper development of your baby. We want you to feel informed and safe, so we explain each step of this journey in detail.

First trimester (weeks 1-13)

First gynecological consultation

We will take your medical history, perform a physical examination, and answer your initial questions.

First-trimester blood test

A complete blood and urine test to confirm your blood type and Rh factor, and to rule out possible infections (toxoplasmosis, rubella, etc.) or anemia.

First-trimester ultrasound (week 12)

It’s the first major window into your baby’s health. We will confirm the due date, check your baby’s vitality, and measure the nuchal fold.

Combined screening or triple screening

We combine ultrasound data and hormonal blood test results to assess the risk of possible chromosomal abnormalities.

Second trimester (weeks 14-27)

Anatomy ultrasound (week 20)

One of the most important ultrasounds. We will study your baby’s entire anatomy in detail to check that all of their organs are developing correctly.

O’Sullivan test (weeks 24-28)

It is the test to assess the risk of developing gestational diabetes, a condition that requires monitoring.

Second-trimester blood test

It helps to check for anemia and to monitor your overall health.

Third trimester (weeks 28-40)

Third-trimester ultrasound

We will assess your baby’s growth, position, and the condition of the placenta and amniotic fluid, preparing for the final stretch.

Vaginal-rectal culture (weeks 35-37)

A simple test to detect the possible presence of group B streptococcus and, if necessary, treat it during delivery to protect your baby.

Fetal monitoring

As your due date approaches, we will record your baby’s heartbeat and contractions to ensure their well-being.
