The Genitourinary Tumors Unit is a national reference unit. In addition to developing clinical trials for patients with bladder, prostate, and kidney cancer, it carries out intense translational research activity in the CUHMED research laboratory located at HM Monteprincipe.

Who is this Unit for?

The Genitourinary Tumors Unit is aimed at:

  • Patients with bladder, prostate, and kidney tumors.
  • Patients seeking to participate in clinical trials with innovative therapies.
  • Patients interested in translational research in the CUHMED research laboratory.
  • Family members and caregivers seeking information and support for their loved ones with genitourinary tumors.
  • Healthcare professionals who wish to refer patients for specialized genitourinary tumor evaluation and treatment.

How do we approach it at HM Hospitals?

Robotic surgery

Allows for tumor removal with greater precision, less bleeding, and faster recovery.

Chemotherapy

We use state-of-the-art medications that circulate throughout the body to destroy cancer cells, especially useful for tumors that have spread.

Radiotherapy

We use high-energy radiation beams to destroy cancer cells, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.

Targeted therapies

They act on specific molecular targets of cancer cells, selectively disrupting their growth and spread.

Immunotherapy

Through drugs, we stimulate the patient’s immune system to naturally recognize and attack cancer cells.
