Misión, visión y valores
HM Hospitales Commitment
At HM Hospitales, driven by Dr. Abarca Campal and Dr. Cidón Tamargo since our incorporation in 1989, we believe that company values and a code of conduct that permeates all levels of our organization are the basis for building a company. A hospital company that provides an excellent service to our stakeholders, contributing with rigor and innovation to promote excellence in the management of healthcare services, teaching and R&D&i, and that contributes to the maintenance and improvement of the population’s health, which is the principle and purpose of our activity.
Our global strategy, therefore, is based on a commitment to effective and efficient management focused on the safety and satisfaction of our patients and their families, employees, collaborators and shareholders.
This is why, at HM Hospitales, we define our mission, vision and values as the management of healthcare, teaching and research services that contribute to maintaining and improving the health of the population.
Purpose
To contribute value to society by driving the healthcare sector forward through a commitment to excellence in innovation, education and research.
Mission
Our mission is to offer healthcare services for the health and well-being of our patients and their families, by means of a comprehensive care offering and excellent quality of service, with a commitment to providing value to our clients, shareholders, employees and society as a whole.
Vision
Our vision focuses on being the leading hospital group in healthcare, teaching and people-centered research in Spain.
Values
In materializing these values, all the people who make up HM Hospitales are committed to complying with this Code of Conduct, which is expressed in the Commitment and standards of action towards our stakeholders.
Commitment to our shareholders
HM Hospitales is made up of several companies owned by various shareholders. HM Hospitales’ Management is committed to exercising the utmost diligence in safeguarding the organization’s assets and maintaining fairness among the various shareholders in the implementation of our policies and strategies common to all the Group companies.
Shareholders have the right to receive adequate and sufficient information in order to monitor their investment, as well as to participate in the companies’ decision-making bodies according to their shareholding, which as a general rule must include minority shareholders on the boards.
HM Hospitales’ Senior Management will make its best efforts, within the Group’s growth policy, to address any divestment needs its shareholders may have, in order to maintain a stable shareholding structure aligned with HM Hospitales’ long-term Project.
Commitment to our patients and clients
In compliance with the HM Hospitales’ corporate policies and values and with the aim of meeting the expectations of its clients, the following principles of conduct have been established:
- Both the management of HM Hospitales and the actions of our professionals are based at all times on the recognized principles of bioethics. This aligns the two classic ethical principles that guided clinical activity (Non-Maleficence, that is, “Do no harm”; and Beneficence, that is, “Do good”) with another two: the patient’s autonomy (deciding for oneself) and justice (distribution of resources). Based on these principles, at HM Hospitales, under no circumstances will any technique be performed that has the objective of harming, injuring or taking away health or life in any way
- All HM Hospitales centers must achieve accreditation according to national or international quality standards that certify the safety of the processes carried out in them
- Under no circumstances will financial offers be accepted that condition the provision of care contrary to the criteria of “lex artis ad hoc” or to applicable regulations
- We will pay special attention to the safekeeping of our patients’ data, as well as to compliance with all applicable measures and regulations in order to preserve the rights of our patients and our employees with respect to current legislation
- We will combine our teaching and research duties with our care duties, so that training, teaching and research activities are not conditioned exclusively by financial considerations and do not cause harm or disadvantage to patients
At HM Hospitales we strive to maintain the highest level of healthcare coverage under safe conditions, both in terms of quality and volume of activity, maintaining the broadest possible portfolio of services so that we can cover almost all of the potential needs of our patients and clients.
Commitment to our people
The success of HM Hospitales has been built on the talent and cohesion of its people. To that end, at HM Hospitales we foster their development, promotion and commitment.
The work environment at HM Hospitales respects equal opportunities and seeks to facilitate a work-life balance, aiming for a pleasant working atmosphere where trust and open dialogue are a reality.
We must create a healthy and positive workplace, where the well-being of everyone in the organization, care of their health, respect for their rights, zero tolerance of workplace harassment and protection of their dignity contribute to improving our attitude and making us more efficient.
Given our main activities (healthcare, teaching, and research and development), we have an obligation to foster all employees’ training and development, in order to both maintain and improve their skills and to learn new ones, ensuring that our staff remain at the forefront in terms of their skill set.
In the event that an internal restructuring of the workforce is required for economic, organizational or other reasons, the personal situation of each employee, their circumstances, record, performance, etc. will be taken into account. And all necessary actions will be taken to try to ensure their future employment.
The human team at HM Hospitales is committed to being loyal and transparent with the organization, reporting any potential conflicts of interest to management, respecting the proper use of the organization’s assets and fulfilling the duty of confidentiality regarding the information to which they have access, from both HM Hospitales and its collaborators.

Commitment to our suppliers
We want to work with the best suppliers, those who are aligned with our values and support HM Hospitales in our business project. To this end, we establish purchasing criteria based on efficiency and not just price, considering quality, delivery times, response to non-conformities, solvency and flexibility in payment. We seek long-term relationships with our suppliers, where we are able to support each other and improve every day.
Commitment to other stakeholders

- In its relations with public administrations, HM Hospitales will act loyally, actively collaborating and responding to any calls for dialogue that may be established
- HM Hospitales should remain open and collaborative with other hospitals and organizations that promote goals similar to our own
- In relation to the communities within our scope, we are committed to respecting the law and promoting behaviors that improve our social and environmental impact, especially in matters of health. We are also committed to the economic growth of the communities where we establish our centers, and whose citizens we serve, prioritizing the hiring of staff from our areas of influence, as well as commercial relationships with suppliers who carry out their activities in Spain
- Respect for the environment, maintaining environmental policies in accordance with international ISO standards and promoting a culture of prevention and awareness that includes aspects such as waste management, sustainable mobility, water consumption, consumption of recycled products and energy management. HM Hospitales is committed to incorporating into its daily management and all its activities the guidelines that help reduce its ecological footprint and the inefficient consumption of energy resources, maintaining a continuous commitment to measurement and transparency
- Finally, transparency and rigor must govern our relationship with the media, transmitting truthful and relevant information
Commitment from Senior Management
Senior Management will ensure that all people who work and/or collaborate in our organization are aware of, understand and comply with the HM Hospitales Code of Conduct.
Any person in the organization may approach the hospital medical director, regional director and area directors to discuss any matter relating to doubts, suggestions or breaches of the Code of Conduct. If you deem it necessary, you may directly contact Senior Management, which will in all cases ensure no retaliation and, if necessary, the required anonymity.
In the event of non-compliance with this Code, Senior Management will convene a specific committee to analyze the case and propose the sanction it deems appropriate, which in the most serious cases may include dismissal. Were this approved by the Senior Management of HM Hospitales, it will be reflected in an incident process pertaining to Executive Management.
We, who work at HM Hospitales, are committed to complying with this code and to supporting its development and continuous improvement.
