During these courses, students have learned how to act correctly in the event of loss of consciousness, cardiorespiratory arrest or choking, notions that are of vital importance to reduce the chances that the victims of these emergencies may have some sequelae or even lose their lives.
The medical director of HM Hospitales in León, Dr. Jesús Saz, stresses the importance of providing this training to as many people as possible, “since we cannot forget that more than 40,000 people die each year from cardiorespiratory arrest and more than 2,000 from choking, figures that would be significantly reduced if we could ensure that most of the population had knowledge of CPR and First Aid. For this reason, we will continue to support our altruistic project ‘Los minutos de la Vida’ and we will go wherever we are asked to go”.
For his part, the director of CIFP Tecnológico Industrial, Enrique Blanco González, highlights the importance of these actions, “as they pursue the dual objective of preparing our students both for everyday life and, of course, for their future professional life. The training and situations faced by the students in these sessions help to improve training in skills that are increasingly required in all professions, while at the same time making students and participants aware of the importance of being trained in CPR and first aid. I would also like to thank the Training and Career Guidance Department of the CIFP Tecnológico Industrial and especially its teacher Elizabeth Robles de la Hera for her hard work in making this initiative so successful”.
The success of the ‘Los minutos de la Vida’ project in León has made it possible for it to be implemented in the rest of the territories where the HM Hospitales Group is present. In addition, it has enjoyed the support of all kinds of public and private entities, as happened a few weeks ago, when the members of the Spanish basketball team were photographed in León next to an inflatable with the logo of ‘Los minutos de la Vida’ to make visible their support for this initiative of HM Hospitales.
